GIS Analyst – HDR

HDR is looking for an entry level GIS Analyst with a solid understanding of GIS, expertise with Esri software and the ability to combine science, aesthetics, and cartography to communicate spatial information effectively. Duties include working in a professional environment with a team of other analysts and GIS developers, engineers, environmental scientists and planners. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with remote team members and with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical, is required. We are interested in someone who is passionate, self-motivated, and has a strong desire to research, learn and grow as a GIS professional; someone who can appropriately apply technology to solve problems and provide services to our clients. Successful candidates will be able to develop database schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goals and efficiently use web resources to research and problem solve. Our projects include geospatial solutions for desktop, web, and mobile.

Primary Responsibilities
In the role of GIS Analyst, we’ll count on you to
• Independently conduct advanced spatial analyses using ArcGIS or other GIS software
• Work with project teams and clients to design and effectively employ GIS on regulatory and permitting elements of infrastructure projects
• Create maps, databases and other deliverables on short notice
• Develop geodatabase schemas and analysis methods needed to support project goals
• Develop vector and raster spatial analysis models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python or other GIS scripting languages
• Configure, develop and support web GIS applications using Esri Web App Builder, Story Maps, Collector, Survey 123 and other offerings within ArcGIS Online platform
• Communicate and collaborate with remote team members and individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical
• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Geographic Information Systems, Planning, Environmental Sciences or relevant field
• Experience with Esri Desktop & Server ArcGIS software including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro & Arc Catalog
• Experience in map generation and data visualization
• Experience publishing Esri map services and leveraging existing web services.
• Expertise with developing Geodatabases and schemas (domains, subtypes) SQL and other databases
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized
• Ability to work independently, self-starter and be productive in a team environment
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications
• Esri Certification, GISP or AICP is a plus but not required
• Experience using Adobe Illustrator or related graphic software for enhancing quality of GIS maps
• 1 – 2 years of practical GIS experience; an advanced degree in relevant field
• Local candidate
