Dear UGIC Members,
As the Delta Variant of COVID-19 continues to create an uptick in cases across Utah and the rest of the country, many are wondering what effect this will have on the 2021 UGIC Conference, scheduled for October 11th – 15th in Bryce Canyon. At this point we plan to move forward with the conference, as scheduled, with several safety measures available. Bryce Canyon/Ruby’s Inn has not implemented any restrictions, however we are concerned about the safety of our attendees and we plan to put the following safety measures into place:
- We will encourage attendees to wear masks in indoor settings where social distancing cannot be maintained, particularly in the breakout classrooms.
- Masks will be made available to all attendees and hand sanitizer stations will be set up throughout the conference.
- We encourage everyone to consider being vaccinated if you have not already done so.
For those uncomfortable attending with a large crowd, please be aware that we do have a virtual attendance option available this year. Virtual attendees will be able to tune into live streams of the plenary sessions and one track of breakout sessions. The option to attend virtually can be found on the UGIC registration site.
Also, please note that September 10th is the deadline to register and still get a conference shirt, as well as the deadline to sign up to give a presentation at the conference.
We want to thank you all for your continued patience as we navigate this pandemic, and your support of UGIC. While we cannot predict the future and it is possible that the current spike in cases will subside before the conference, we feel that having these safety measures available will help ensure a safe, fun, and memorable UGIC conference!
