STATUS: Part-Time (non-benefited, <29 hrs/wk). Typically 10-20 hours per week. Schedule can be flexible to work with school class schedule
SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation or his/her designee, assists the Parks & Recreation department with GPS data collection, GIS layer editing, map preparation and printing, and GIS analysis. May work with other city departments and outside agencies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A current undergraduate or graduate student in GIS, geography, cartography, databases, or related subject. Related experience preferred but not required. Requires a valid Utah Driver’s License. Knowledge of GIS; cartographic principles; nomenclature, symbols, principles and mathematics of mapping; map interpretation; ArcGIS; Microsoft Excel; Geocoding; spreadsheets; word processing software; Local Area Network principles; correct English usage, spelling, and grammar. Responsibility for the care, condition, and use of computer equipment; provision of maps, charts, graphs, and related information. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; ability to follow complex written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships. Requires regular use of office equipment including computer equipment, large format copiers and plotters, calculators, field equipment such as Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and telephone system. Requires use of personal or city vehicle.
